I was really excited to visit the Open-air onsen baths in Takayama, so I chose Hodakaso Sanganoyu due to its convenient location. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the onsen services provided by the ryokan. The yukata they offered was comfortable and added to the traditional experience. It was a delightful touch that enhanced my overall stay.
Toilet is small, but manageable.

We had a great time discovering the beautiful nature in the area surrounding the hotel. The proximity to Kamikochi made it convenient for us to go hiking. The spacious room and nice bathroom provided a comfortable stay. The onsens, both public and private, were a fantastic way to relax after a day of exploring. I highly recommend this hotel for nature enthusiasts like us.

Perfect hotel in a FANTASTIC location, great food. As picky eaters we loved to be close to lots of restaurants, went to Kuidokoro Yoshimoto couple of times, it was 5 mins walk away.

The hotel had very friendly staff who were helpful and accommodating. The private onsen was definitely the best aspect of the stay, clean and with perfect water temperature. Another plus is that the hotel is located near the bus station, making it easy to explore nearby areas. the spacious and comfortable rooms were a great advantage.
The shower in the room wasn't up to par, and the sleeping mats were a bit thin. It was also a bit inconvenient that there were no towels provided at the onsen.

The staff here went above and beyond to ensure that I had a relaxing and enjoyable experience. This traditional Japanese hotel is conveniently situated close to the bus terminal and offers a private onsen for a relaxing soak. The room is spacious with a privacy bathroom, and the dinner and breakfast spreads are plentiful. Guests can enjoy a variety of lovely little dishes and even sample regionally renowned Hida beef. The friendly staff were attentive to the needs of all guests, and there was a pleasant private dining tatami room available to each group.
The private onsen did not come equipped with shower facilities, which may be inconvenient for some guests.

The hotel I stayed at over the weekend had really comfortable beds and great views of the surrounding nature. the hotel offered an onsen for guests to relax in and unwind after a long day.
The facilities were not well maintained and needed updating. I found stains on the walls and some parts of the hotel were unclean.
